Project Description:
Aloha, my senior project is all about providing tech-help for newer and younger Kihei Charter students. What led me to this idea was my driving question, "How can I create tutorials through technology that will assist upcoming Kihei Charter Students?" I wanted to create technology tutorials to help some of our school's students because from time-to-time I'd see them struggling with their Google Classroom and/or Gmail accounts. I ended up creating a website which displays written instructions as well as videos which guide students through the process of signing into their online accounts and, from there, sending emails, turning in work, etc.
Through the process of this project, I truly learned a lot. Primarily, I gained great interest in web-design and realized that it's something I may consider doing on the side for additional income. I also learned that making quality videos and websites can take much longer then expected, and it's a whole process of trial and error. I needed to learn many things that were new to me at first, so this project really got me out of my comfort zone. I had little experience with web-design and none at all with video creation. I had a vision though, and pushed myself all the way through. Both my website and tutorials went through many phases, and I ended up cutting/re-doing things many times in order to try and have things displayed as nicely as possible. In the end, I'm happy with the way my project has turned out and hope for it to be used as a tech-help resource by Kihei Charter students for years to come!

21st Century Skills:
This project improved many 21st century skills of mine. Firstly, my self-directional skills were improved upon. This project was envisioned by me and then brought to reality through my work. While I had help along the way, I was the primary driving force which got my project done. I created the timeline and, from there, followed it quite strictly in order to get the project completed. Another skill that I heavily improved upon through this project was my information skills. In order to create a resource covering tech-help for our school, I had to research video creation, web-design, and the content which I covered itself (mastering Google Classroom and Gmail) through a plethora of online sources. I needed to learn many new things, so I did lots of research along the way.
My communication skills were improved upon as well through doing this project, and in a very unique way. I learned a whole new aspect of communication through filming tutorials. I needed to figure out a way to effectively communicate the process of tech-based activities to who I envisioned would be viewing my tutorials. It was weird at first, because I was talking to a computer screen while being all alone in my room, but eventually I got used to it after several brainstorms, attempts, cuts, and edits. In addition to that unique aspect of communication, I also improved at public speaking due to the many presentations I did about my project throughout the school year. Lastly, my interpersonal skills were improved upon. This is thanks to the many sessions I had with my friends, Bjorn and Jharrell, when we discussed in groups how we could make our websites better (we all created websties for our project).
